Strengthening Continuity in Education Quality Assurance: DG Engages Predecessor in Abuja

The Director General, OEQA, Dr. Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa, presented the OEQA 2026 Strategic Plan to the immediate past Director General, OEQA, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, during a courtesy visit on Thursday in Abuja.

In a strategic move aimed at fostering continuity and strengthening institutional effectiveness, the Director-General of Education Quality Assurance, Dr. Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa, on April 23, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to his immediate predecessor, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, in Abuja.

The visit, which took place at City View Restaurant and later at the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Headquarters, was designed to reinforce institutional relevance by bridging past leadership experience with present administrative direction.

During the engagement, both leaders held extensive discussions over lunch, focusing on key challenges encountered during Mrs. Seriki-Ayeni’s tenure and the strategies she employed to navigate them. Dr. Ogunmuyiwa described the interaction as “highly insightful,” noting that the exchange provided valuable perspectives that will inform current and future policy implementation.

A major highlight of the visit was the deliberate effort to leverage Mrs. Seriki-Ayeni’s extensive network within the education sector, both nationally and internationally. The meeting facilitated the initiation of high-level contacts, with expectations of productive collaborations and impactful outcomes for the sector.

In addition, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa formally presented the OEQA 2026 Strategic Plan to his predecessor. Mrs. Seriki-Ayeni commended the document, describing it as forward-looking and comprehensive. She expressed her full support for its successful implementation and offered to provide guidance where necessary.

Reflecting on the visit, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa emphasized the importance of institutional memory and professional collaboration. He noted that meaningful progress in the education sector requires continuous engagement with past leaders to better understand present realities and strategically plan for the future.

The visit underscores a growing commitment within the education quality assurance framework to build on past achievements while driving innovation and sustainable development.
