The office comprises the following departments

There are five (5) Divisions in Admin and Human Resource department which are:

  1. Learning and Development: learning and development are the indispensable functions of human resources management. It is the attempt to improve the current or future performance of an employee by increasing the ability of an employee through educating and increasing one’s skills and knowledge in a particular subject.
  2. General Administration
  3. Employee Relations: employees are the pillars of any organization. Employee relationship is a very broad concept and it is one of the crucial functions. They have the ability to influence behaviors and work outputs. Well planed employee relations will the healthy and balanced relation between the employee and the employer.
  4. Human Resources and Accountability
  5. Workforce Recruitment: worker force recruitment is the process of captivating screening and selecting potential and qualified candidates based on objective criteria for a particular job. The goal of this process to attract qualified applicants and to encourage the unqualified applicants to opt-out. The workforce recruitment process is very important to every organization because it reduces the cost of mistake such as engaging incompetent, unmotivated, and under-qualified employees.
  1. Planning intervention programme for school leaders, Collation of data on WSE, WASSCE and BESE to identify schools/districts intervention needs.
  2. Itinerary for OEQA activities for the year.
  3. Stakeholders meeting on annual school calendar for schools below tertiary institutions.
  4. Formulating instruments for types and modalities for intervention.
  5. Keeping an update on education policies and disseminating same to the Districts.
  6. Ensuring improved monitoring of curriculum implantation in public and private schools below tertiary level.
  7. Setting up of library in all the 26 offices and the headquarters.
  8. Collation of data on WSE and analyze
  9. Collate WASSCE and BECE analysis of all to determine the progression level of schools.
  10. Organizing annual education stakeholders’ forum
  11. Any other duties assigned by the DG.
  1. Monitoring of schools compliance to government guidelines.
  2. Coordinates monitoring of internal examinations in public schools.
  3. Policies on safeguarding and child protection.
  4. Monitoring of external examinations in government and private schools below tertiary level.
  5. Investigation of all matter affecting learners and staff of educational institutions.
  1. Conduct of whole school Evaluation (WSE) in all government and private schools below the tertiary level in the state.
  2. Conduct of Teaching and learning monitoring in schools.
  3. Critique of WSE reports.
  4. Distribution of critiqued WSE reports to schools visited.
  5. Collation of WSE reports from the districts and headquarters.
  6. Writing of executive summary
  7. Production of Annual State of education reports(ASER)

For smooth running of the office and optimal performance of Quality Assurance activities, six (6) Districts coordinating offices were established in all the 20 Local Government Area and 37 LCDAs.

The district and Zonal Areas are as follows:

District 1:- Agege, Ifako-Ijaye ad Alimosho

District 2:- Ikorodu, Kosofe & Somolu

District 3:- Ibeju-Lekki, Eti-Osa, Epe & Lagos Island

District 4:- Apapa, mainland and surulere

District 5:- Ajeromi Ifelodun, Amuwo-Odofin, Badagry and Ojo

District 6:- Ikeja, Mushin and Oshodi-Isolo.

HOD PESP Mr Adeyemi Adebayo

The mandate of the Departmentof Private Education and Special Programmes [PESP] is to provide guidelines and policy directives to Private Schools below tertiary level on important matters of education. The department comprises of Six (6) units.

FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT

  • Issuing of Names to prospective School Owners.
  • Approval of Private Institutions below the tertiary level in the State after site and approval inspections and documentation.
  • Organising Special Programmes such as Spelling Bee, School Invention Platform (SIP) Family Life and HIV Education (FLHE) training with related organizations and sponsors.
  • Updating and retrieving information from the database of PEPS on Private Institutions below thetertiary level of education.
  • Issuance of Demand Notice and collection of Annual Dues through the Central Billing System (CBS).
  • Organising Stakeholders meeting with Private Schools.
  • Collaborating with PPRS on Annual School Census.
  • Reviewing of Guidelines on Establishment of Private Institutions below the tertiary level of education in the state.

  • SECONDARY SCHOOL & SIXTH FORM APPROVAL UNIT
    1. Conducts Site, Revisit and Approval Inspections in Private Schools below tertiary level.
    2. Documents Approval Records in collaboration with School Registration.
    3. Conducts School Relocation Inspection in collaboration with School Registration Unit.
  • NURSERY & PRIMARY APPROVAL UNIT
    1. Conducts Site, Revisit and Approval Inspection in Private Schools below tertiary level.
    2. Documents Approval Records in collaboration with School Registration.
    3. Conducts School Relocation Inspection in collaboration with School Registration Unit.
  • ACCESS & REVENUE UNIT
    1. Issuance of Demand Notice to Approved Private Schools for payment of Annual Dues.
    2. Collation of Payment Receipts for Auditing.
    3. Embarking on Revenue Drive to Private Schools below tertiary level across the State
    4. Issuance of Clearance Letters to Approved Private Schools below tertiary level.
  • COORDINATION UNIT
    1. Compiling Monthly Reports of the Department.
    2. In charge of Quarterly Stakeholders/ other related meetings.
    3. Liaising with relevant School Associations and MDA’s on matters affecting Private Schools.
    4. Collaborating with Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT), Safety Commission on Child Protection Matters and Ministry of Health on Child Immunization.
    5. Handling issues relating to violation of the State’s Guidelines on Establishment of Private Schools.
  • SCHOOL REGISTRATION UNIT
    1. Registration of New Private Schools.
    2. Processing Confirmation of School Status.
    3. Updating data of Private Schools and scanning of Approval Documents
    4. Processing of Change of Name, Change of Ownership and loss of Approval Letter of Private Schools below tertiary level.
  • SPECIAL PROGRAMMES UNIT
    1. The Unit is saddled with organizing Spelling Bee Competition, One Day Governor’s Programme, Lagos Schools Invention Platform, Drug Free Day, Family Life and HIV Education (FLHE) Programme.
    2. Liaising with relevant MDA’s/Agencies and NGO’s on programmes i.e. Teenage Festival of Life (TFL).
    3. Conduct Approval Inspection in Vocational/Remedial Schools.
