OEQA Trains Lagos Private School Owners on Global Best Practices
The Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) has held a masterclass for private school owners as part of efforts to strengthen education quality assurance and promote the adoption of global best practices in the state’s education sector.
The masterclass, held as part of a five-day programme, was declared open by the Director-General of OEQA, Dr Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa, who delivered the opening remarks and made a presentation on quality assurance priorities in Lagos State.
The programme was facilitated by Finnish consultants, Pasi and Timo, who shared insights into lessons Nigerian schools could draw from Finland’s education system. Their sessions focused on skills benchmarking, relevance and employability, quality management, evidence-based standards and practical approaches to school improvement.
Participants also engaged in a school quality benchmarking laboratory, explored quality assurance tools and developed 90-day action plans to support improvement in their respective schools. The programme further provided opportunities for networking and peer exchange aimed at improving learning outcomes.
The event featured the presentation of certificates to more than 50 private school leaders who participated in the intensive programme. Three private school owners also received standard laptops after emerging as winners in a ballot draw conducted at the event.
