OEQA CONCLUDES ENGAGEMENT TOUR OF LAGOS EDUCATION DISTRICTS

The Director-General of the Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), Dr. Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa, has concluded a statewide engagement tour of the Education Districts as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and advance ongoing reforms aimed at improving learning outcomes in schools below tertiary level in Lagos State.

The tour, which commenced in May 2026, saw the agency’s management team visit all Education Districts except District III, which is currently under administrative supervision pending the appointment of a substantive Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary.

During the visits, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa and senior officials of the agency held discussions with Tutors-General/Permanent Secretaries and district management teams on strategies for enhancing school effectiveness and strengthening support systems for teaching and learning.

The Director-General said the engagements were necessary to deepen partnerships among critical stakeholders and align efforts towards achieving the state’s education objectives.

According to him, OEQA is repositioning its operations to provide more responsive oversight while supporting schools to achieve higher standards through innovation and capacity development.

Discussions also focused on teacher development, safeguarding of children, learner welfare, school improvement planning, data management and other issues critical to educational performance.

The Tutors-General/Permanent Secretaries commended the initiative and pledged continued cooperation with OEQA in driving improvements across schools within their respective districts. They noted that the interactions provided useful insights into the agency’s priorities and created opportunities for closer collaboration.

As part of the exercise, copies of the OEQA Strategic Plan Handbook were presented to district leadership to support a shared understanding of the agency’s vision and operational direction.

Reflecting on the outcome of the tour, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa expressed appreciation to the district leadership for their warm reception and constructive contributions, describing the engagements as a significant step towards building a stronger culture of accountability and continuous improvement in the education sector.

He added that the stakeholder engagement initiative would continue with visits to Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Lagos State Government as well as selected private-sector organisations to foster broader partnerships in support of educational development.

The Tutors-General/Permanent Secretaries who received the Director-General and his team during the tour were Dr. Mrs. Olufunke Idowu Oyetola (Education District I), Mr. Omotayo Layemo Sanni (Education District II), Mr. Olufemi Bamidele Paseda (Education District IV), Mr. Dauda Abiodun Hassan (Education District V) and Mrs. Christian Mojisola Yusuff (Education District VI).
