SCHOOLS TO OBSERVE A WEEK MID-TERM BREAK FOR 2021/2022 ACADEMIC SESSION

The 2021/2022 academic session mid-term break for public and private schools below tertiary level in Lagos State will commence from November 1st through November 5th 2021 while schools are to resume on November 8th 2021 for instructional learning hours in accordance with the 2021/2022 harmonized school calendar by the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), Ministry of Education.

The Director General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni said the One-Week long break will afford schools the opportunity to internally upskill their teachers in various educational and developmental programmes especially at this time of COVID-19, where learning has gone beyond physical four walls of the classroom.

Mrs. Seriki-Ayeni urged school administrators and leaders in the state to ensure they comply strictly with the directive of the state government for a hitch free mid-term break. They should also ensure they professionally enrich teachers to aid improved staff performance, effectiveness and efficiency as training and retraining is key to professional development in the 21st century. They should use the opportunity to further put in place COVID-19 safety and precautionary protocols as prescribed by the Lagos State Government for students’ wellness.

She implore parents/guardians to make use of the mid-term break in engaging their children/wards productively as well as spend meaningful time with them to boost a cordial relationship that will foster a peaceful communal society.
