LAGOS OEQA KICKS OFF FOUR-DAY INDUCTION TRAINING FOR NEWLY DEPLOYED OFFICERS
The Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) on Monday kicked off a four-day induction training programme for its newly deployed officers. The training, held at Ikeja Senior High School, GRA, Ikeja, was meant to familiarize the officers with the agency’s operations and responsibilities.
Addressing the participants, OEQA’s Coordinating Director, Mr. Remi Abdul, explained the importance of quality assurance training, noting that it was a critical component of the agency’s technical responsibilities.
According to Mr. Abdul, when OEQA was established, the agency’s officers underwent a comprehensive seven-day training programme conducted by expatriates. “Quality assurance at all levels, be it federal or state, don’t just throw officers on the field without giving them appropriate training,” he stressed.
He urged participants to concentrate on every aspect of the training, emphasising that it would enable them to master their job responsibilities. He also warned that the agency would not hesitate to sanction undisciplined officers.
The training programme featured presentations from the Heads of Core Departments, including Planning Research and Statistics (PRS), Quality Assurance, Private Education and Special Programmes (PESP) and the Monitoring and Investigation Department.
The Coordinating Director, Education District 1, Mr. Femi Ejiwunmi, also made presentations on the Structure and Operations of the Six Education District Offices.
Earlier, the Director, Administration and Human Resources, Mrs. Mojisola Bamgbose, administered a pre-course test and provided a general overview of the agency to participants.
The induction training programme is expected to equip the new officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles and promote quality education in Lagos State.
